Around 1999-2000, Alan Brown joined singer Chris Melville, guitarist Joel Haines and drummer Tony Hopkins, and the Grand Central Band was formed. 'Cook St Sessions' was recorded in 2000 and for this line-up, Alan played hammond organ exclusively.

The line-up changed dramatically and in it's last incarnation featured Karika Turua on bass, Josh Sorenson on drums, and Jonas Julio on guitar. Alan played Rhodes and Korg Trident (and Clavinet & Melodica!). 'Brightest Star' was released in 2004.
